Since I’ve had many questions about this graphic, I decided to make a walkthrough of how I created this. Thanks to all the people (anon or not) who asked how I made this graphic, here is a walkthrough!

I won’t go into too much detail, and my photoshop is in Dutch, if that causes any confusion please let me know.

Feel free to ask me questions about this walkthrough (oh, but please do come off anon so I can answer the question privately ;))

I have to admit, I cheated a bit with this graphic. I started with an old graphic of mine with the idea of revamping it, but not really knowing where I wanted it to go. I did know I really liked the coloring, so I wanted to use it:

I cut out the TARDIS and placed it on a new canvas, and used the clone tool to fill the canvas with the texture I used on the original graphic:

I created a square hard brush and added the following settings (I’m sorry for my translation, I’m not sure about this since I use the Dutch version of Photoshop):

Shape: Space in between: 300%

Shape Dynamics: 
Size: 0% / Off
Angle: 24% / Off
Roundness: 80%
Minimum roundness: 24%

Scatter:
1000% / Off
Amount: 3 - 29%

Once you have created this brush, save it for later use.

Then I added a layer mask to the TARDIS picture, and with the eraser and the brush I made I deleted parts of the TARDIS:

Alright, next step, the creation of the little “flakes” or whatever you want to call them: I made a new document onto which I copied the TARDIS picture and defined it as a pattern (Edit -> Define Pattern). Then I went back to the canvas with my graphic and added a new layer. With the same brush I painted various curves of white, decreasing the brush size as I came near the upper side of the canvas:

I then opened the Layer Styles menu of that layer (double click on the layer) and added a Pattern with Pattern overlay (again, not sure about the name), and used the TARDIS picture I defined as a pattern:

I then added a couple of planet textures by planets-bend-between-us on the blend mode Screen, and then a couple of color layers and that’s it, really.
